"The neighbors have just caught this criminal after he stole a cell phone from my sister's house on Marañón Street; he has already been taken to his unit by the Police," he said.

Furthermore, he stated that the alleged thief "was carrying in the small bag he was carrying, six more phones that he must have stolen today."

Rosy GE expressed her "appreciation to the two young people who followed and captured him."

Another woman, identified as María de los Ángeles Gutiérrez La O, shared the post and stated that the individual had stolen her mother's mobile phone.

"This same person was the one who stole my mom's cell phone, but divine justice is so great that anyone who steals in any way will fall," he said. "We need brave young people like these in every neighborhood. Let him pay the full price. I am opposed to delinquency."

In the midst of the deep economic crisis it is going through, Cuba is experiencing a notable increase in criminal activities, which are keeping the population on edge due to the inefficiency and negligence of the authorities.

In recent days, neighbors from Reparto Eléctrico, in the municipality of Arroyo Naranjo, in Havana, captured a man whom they accused of snatching phones, beat him, and tied him to a pole.

At the beginning of the month, a brave woman saw a man stealing from a vendor at an agricultural fair in Santiago de Cuba. She chased him and detained him until a police officer took him away under arrest.

In the José Martí neighborhood of Santa Clara, in Villa Clara, the police caught a young man red-handed while he was robbing a bench in the park. According to authorities, he had already robbed five benches in the area.

A surveillance camera installed in a house in Havana recorded the moment a thief entered and took a washing machine from the home's patio. The family released the footage in hopes of identifying the criminal.
