Amid the transportation crisis in Cuba and the fuel shortage, the government has promised Cuban citizens to create electric tricycles that will feature high technology and come equipped with integrated solar panels.
Vehicles will not only be dedicated to passenger transportation, but they must also develop the communication system and disclose, with their two screens and audio equipment, the topics of interest of the regime.
The Electronic Industry Company (EIE) Camilo Cienfuegos will be in charge of manufacturing these electric tricycles, and they ensure that they are of "high technology" and "with multiple features," something very uncommon in Cuba.
Edel Gómez Gómez, general director, commented to Granma that the vehicles will have three photovoltaic solar panels. In addition, they will accumulate energy in their batteries to be a source of light and electricity in situations of energy contingency in a community, like in a small water pumping station.
He said that the production of these tricycles is a response to an instruction from the ruler Miguel Díaz-Canel to solve problems in some communities, without specifying which ones or when Cubans will see these tricycles on the streets of the country providing services.
In April, the regime announced that they are preparing a batch of about twenty electric tricycles for passenger transportation.
In this case, the Cuban companies that produce these means of transportation have also not detailed which provinces will benefit or the routes that will be covered by these vehicles.
