The famous Cuban comedian Geonel Martín, known for his character "Gustavito," has acquired U.S. citizenship after more than a decade of living in Miami. The news was announced by host Carlos Otero on Facebook.
In the post, the comedian is seen celebrating his new status with an image holding the flag of the United States and his citizenship certificate, next to a replica of the Statue of Liberty.
Carlos Otero expressed in his post: "Congratulations to our dear Gustavito Sabadazo, who is now an American citizen! Wishing you success, my brother!" The post quickly filled with positive comments and congratulations for the comedian.
Geonel Martín, born in Havana in 1966, began his career in comedy with the group Pagola la Paga, leaving his studies in construction behind to pursue his true passion. His big break came in 1994 when television director Julio Pulido chose him to play "Gustavito" on the popular show Sabadazo, sharing the stage with stars like Carlos Otero and Ángel García.
