The famous Cuban comedian Geonel Martín, known for his character "Gustavito", has managed to obtain US citizenship after over a decade living in Miami. The news was announced by presenter Carlos Otero on Facebook.
In the post, the comedian is shown celebrating his new status with an image where he is holding the flag of the United States and his citizenship document, alongside a replica of the Statue of Liberty.
Carlos Otero expressed in his post: "Congratulations to our dear Gustavito Sabadazo who is now an American citizen! Success, my brother!!". The publication quickly filled up with positive comments and congratulations for the comedian.
Geonel Martín, born in Havana in 1966, began his career in comedy with the group Pagola la Paga, leaving his studies in construction behind to pursue his true passion. His big break came in 1994 when the television director Julio Pulido chose him to portray "Gustavito" in the popular show Sabadazo, sharing the stage with figures like Carlos Otero and Ángel García.
