The billboard that compares Donald Trump to Fidel Castro, located on Palmetto Avenue in Miami, will be removed early on Saturday morning, as reported by Republican congresswoman María Elvira Salazar.
"The Vice President and General Manager of Lamar Advertising for South Florida has just informed me that the billboard featuring the dictator Fidel Castro's image will be removed by midnight," Salazar said through his account on the social network X.
The image of Trump alongside the deceased Cuban dictator Fidel Castro has sparked a great controversy on social media and in the public space of Miami.
Regarding these demonstrations, the person in charge of the image, Claude Taylor, leader of an anti-Trump Political Action Committee, expressed in X: "Do you hate our poster? Guess what? This country is still free," in response to Trump supporters who have demanded its removal.
The controversial billboard was placed in Miami amid the electoral campaign for the 2024 United States presidential elections.
The advertisement is on the Palmetto Highway, at the height of 67th Avenue. It was paid for by the Mad Dog PAC group and shows the image of former President Trump next to that of the late Cuban leader Castro, with the message "No to dictators, no to Trump".
The PAC was founded by the Democrat Taylor, who was an employee at the White House during Bill Clinton's administration.
Taylor himself announced recently that a truck carrying images of Fidel Castro, Nicolás Maduro, Hugo Chávez, and Donald Trump is heading to Miami, fueling controversy in the city.
Taylor announced that in addition to the photos, the vehicle will play a video showing Castro delivering a speech, with Trump's voice overlaid discussing shark attacks, electric ships, a clear mockery of the two former presidents.
