A Cuban shared on TikTok his experience as an immigrant in the United States and the reactions he sometimes receives from relatives and acquaintances on the island.
In the video where he speaks from a car, the user @amadoernesto93 talked about how hard he works to help his loved ones. "As everyone knows, I have been living here for two and a half years, almost three years in this country now, and like me, there are many who work like a mule to try to provide all the benefits and the best things for their families in Cuba," Amado Ernesto begins in his testimony, where he expressed his frustration of feeling misunderstood by some family members and acquaintances.
In his words, he also commented on the mistaken perception that many in Cuba have regarding the life of immigrants in the United States: "I am speechless when sometimes they believe that... they tell you 'you are in the United States, you are doing great, you don't experience blackouts, you don't lack food, you have a car'."
In response to your video, supportive and understanding comments arrived along with messages from other users, who shared their own experiences and reflections on the reality of Cuban immigrants in the United States.
"It's tough. And unfortunately, there are ungrateful people who do not appreciate the sacrifice that everyone makes to help as they can. Good luck and stay strong"; "Exactly, the majority in Cuba are mistaken and believe that everything here falls from the sky"; "My brother, a free piece of advice: Prioritize yourself first, then your parents (if they are in Cuba), your children (if they are). The rest is unnecessary," they commented.
