The team mascot of Santiago de Cuba loses its head after running onto the baseball field.

The wasp was celebrating Santiago's victory over Industriales with such passion that when it leaped onto home plate, its red head came off.

A friendly incident occurred on Friday after the baseball game between Industriales and Santiago de Cuba at Guillermón Moncada, where the home team defeated the visitors.

In the midst of the jubilation over the victory, the wasp, the mascot of the people from Santiago, went out onto the field to celebrate, and its enthusiasm was such that when it lunged towards home plate, it ended up headless.

A video shared on Facebook by the independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta shows the moment when the man inside the costume ecstatically walks around the baseball field while encouraging the crowd to applaud.

Suddenly, he started running towards home plate and threw himself forward with such force that his big red head came off. Without wasting a second, he picked it up and put it back on, amidst the laughter of the attendees.

The amusing incident added to the general euphoria that reigned in the stadium after the spectacular victory of the Santiago team in the ninth inning, thanks to a home run by Harold Vásquez.

The hosts defeated the Lions 8-6 and remain undefeated in the tournament.

Both teams will play their next matches at the Latinoamericano Stadium in Havana starting on Sunday.
