The remembered Cuban comedian Centurión, who was very popular on the Island in the 70s and 80s, passed away in Miami at the age of 81 due to undisclosed causes.
Francisco Andrés Centurión, known in the entertainment world by his last name Centurión, was one of the most important figures in humor in Cuba, thanks to his imitations of famous artists, a genre that has fallen into disuse over time.
Born on August 21, 1942 in the town of Jaruco, Mayabeque, he showed his versatility in parody, phonemimicry, and as a ventriloquist. With his puppet Francisquito, he was a frequent guest on television shows and theater performances.
In the 90s, he emigrated to the United States, where he settled in Miami and never practiced his profession again.
According to the OnCuba website, in Miami, he/she focused on working in the commercial sector, such as selling houses in Miami-Dade County.
In 2014, his name appeared on a list of detainees who were part of a network that defrauded home insurance companies and embezzled over seven million dollars, news that was picked up by the media in South Florida like América TeVe.
According to reports from the time, authorities did not include him among the 14 sentenced for that case, which served to prove the innocence of the former comedian," OnCuba states.
Apparently, his name was linked to the case because he was the owner of one of the houses that were damaged to collect the compensation. He clarified that he had it rented out at that time and had no relation to the scammers.
