A resident in Cienfuegos reported that there is no sugar available for the population in their province, despite having exceeded this year's production plan.
Yamil Cuéllar questioned on his Facebook wall why not even a grain of sugar has reached the warehouses, after a supposedly optimal harvest.
32 thousand tons, out of the 29 thousand planned, placed the province above the rest of the country. However, the sugar achievements have not been of any use, not even to win over the dilapidated 26th of July. "Where are those 32 thousand tons of sugar produced in the province?" he asked.
Cuéllar is convinced that all that sugar ended up in Havana, because it is in the capital where the government sends the few resources of the country.
He emphasized that weeks ago, Vice President Salvador Valdés Mesa and Machado Ventura visited several provinces, including Cienfuegos, "to remind local leaders of the tribute they must pay to the capital."
Meanwhile, the residents of Cienfuegos still lack sugar, except for those who can empty their pockets to get it at a high price, either in a micro, small, and medium-sized enterprise or in the informal market," he emphasized.
Last April, Cienfuegos became the first province in the country to meet the sugar production plan, exceeding the goal of more than 29 thousand tons, and continued milling to reach an additional four thousand tons.
An article from the Radio Rebelde station boasted that the Pearl of the South had bagged more than 15 thousand tons of sugar destined for the basic basket of Havana, Pinar del Río, Artemisa, Mayabeque, and the Isle of Youth.
Several internet users commented on Cuéllar's post. One of them, a resident of Havana, stated that the sugar obtained in Cienfuegos was not sent to their city. "Here this month they haven't given any either, not even a pound."
"If there is sugar, whichever you want, the small and medium-sized enterprises at 600 pesos per kilogram," another user pointed out.
