Error delays burial of Cuban elderly woman at Miami cemetery.

The funeral of the lady, who died on June 23 at the age of 93, was supposed to take place on Tuesday afternoon at the Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South cemetery in Kendall, but the space reserved for her was taken by another deceased.

An inconceivable error caused the delay of the burial of an elderly woman in a cemetery in Miami, leading to moments of pain and uncertainty for her family.

The burial of the lady, who passed away on June 23 at the age of 93, was scheduled for Tuesday at 2:00 p.m. at the Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South Cemetery in Kendall, but a mistake at the graveyard prevented the burial from taking place as the family had planned.

"When we arrived at the cemetery, the space designated for my grandmother was occupied by another deceased," said Leodan Delgado, the deceased's grandson, to Telemundo51.

An hour earlier, as they were informed, another person had been buried in the grave the family paid for.

Delgado expressed his and his relatives' displeasure: "We are very offended. We feel very bad because we have nowhere to bury her."

Mario Márquez, the deceased's son, explained that the grave is owned by his brother-in-law, his sister's husband. "They bought it almost 10 years ago, but it had never been used," he added.

Three days before the funeral, the relatives of the deceased elderly woman went to the cemetery and left everything ready, according to their testimony, but on Tuesday they encountered a very different reality.

"They offered us apologies for the mistake and told us that we had to wait to exhume him and then bury my mom," Márquez pointed out.

Telemundo51 recorded the moment when they removed the coffin of the person previously buried and placed it in another grave, using an excavator.

According to Márquez, an employee of the cemetery office told them that they had notified the relatives of the other deceased person, and they said they would not return, which the Cuban doubted.

Having to wait three hours to bury my mom is a lack of respect, ethics, education, everything... Did they make a mistake? No, I don't think they made a mistake! stated Márquez indignantly about the incident.

The family stayed at the cemetery during Tuesday afternoon, waiting to say their final goodbyes to their loved one. Finally, the burial took place around 4:30 p.m.

The management of Caballero Rivero Woodlawn South did not respond to the request for statements about the unusual situation made by the television channel.
