The well-known Cuban political analyst Andrés Alburquerque was rushed to the hospital in Miami due to a stroke.

On Friday, the influencer Alexander Otaola reported the news on his show, detailing that the veteran broadcaster underwent a sort of catheterization to drain the accumulated fluid in the brain that was impeding its normal functioning.

"I spoke with his wife, and she told me that Andrés is stable and has reacted well to the treatment," said Otaola, who asked for prayers for the patient's recovery.

"He is already moving his hands and trying to speak, although obviously the next 48 to 72 hours are crucial for his recovery," he added.

Alburquerque, 67, hosts the program "Enfoque Ciudadano" on the Cubanos por el Mundo portal. On Thursday, just a few hours before falling ill, he interviewed Cuban activist Norges Rodríguez about the Castro clan's businesses abroad.

The activist Eliecer Ávila also expressed concern for the health of the veteran communicator.

I just spoke with Karen, the wife of Maestro Andrés Alburquerque, and it comforts me a lot to know that he is stable and responding well to the treatment. Albuquerque is a great mentor to me, a very honorable gentleman who honors this community. We need him, and I hope he will soon be back at 100%, expressed on their Facebook wall.

Hundreds of people have sent blessings to Alburquerque.

"Speedy recovery," filmmaker Lilo Vilaplana wished them on Facebook.

Born in Havana in 1956, Andrés Alburquerque is a university professor of Linguistics and English Language. He is a political analyst on radio and television in Miami, platforms that have allowed him to denounce the Castro dictatorship.

Through his articles and public appearances, he has revealed to the world the true reality of Cuba, the lack of freedom, human rights violations, and government repression.

He is a member of the Republican Party.
