The sad story of a machete-stricken dog is being repeated in Sancti Spíritus, causing outrage among animal rights activists, who this time have identified the alleged culprit and demand justice from the Cuban government.
Natasha Zapata reported the new act of violence against an animal in the Facebook group "SOS Street Animals. Cuba," identifying citizen Y.A.C. as the aggressor.

According to the complainant, the man also owns a mare with which he engages in inappropriate behaviors, which is why she demanded that the authorities take legal action against him, invoking the Animal Welfare Law.
Zapata also warned that the man is a cook in a slaughterhouse: "I also cannot understand that he works preparing food when he is unsanitary," he pointed out.
The woman lamented the existence of unscrupulous people and emphasized that the competent authorities must intervene, as she fears for the life of the aggressor's mare and any other animal under his care.
In the comments section, Elizabeth Herrera Rodríguez explained that the dog lost an eye and that at the time of the violent incident, he had wandered away from home and was in the aggressor's house.
"Then the owner who has given her all the care and love she deserves, appeared," he pointed out.
It is not the first time that a dog has been a victim of a violent act of this nature.
Last May, a similar incident also occurred in the province of Sancti Spiritus. After being rescued by animal protectors, the dog Yeiko is recovering satisfactorily in the comfort of his home, with his family.
The ARCA Sancti Spíritus Foundation posted on Facebook this Sunday some photos where the dog can be seen sleeping peacefully, still recovering from the wounds and trauma suffered.
His wounds have been healing and the desire to play is returning, so much so that he has his mom covered in scratches. Yeiko is a happy dog and will soon trust in the good intentions of the human south once again, while his heart keeps healing," the animal advocates pointed out.
