A puppy is left abandoned after its owner was taken to a nursing home in Havana.

The dog is being fed by a neighbor who reported that some people want to end its life to be able to clean the house where it is.

Animal protectors in Havana reported on social media about the risk facing a dog after its owner, an elderly woman residing in Marianao, was moved to a nursing home.

Mafalda Hernández reported in the Facebook group "SOS callejeros. Cuba" that the animal was left alone on the doorstep of the house, where a neighbor named Bertha provides it with some food.

Hernández emphasized that the situation has become concerning due to comments from some neighbors who have suggested ending the dog's life to "get rid of it."

"Whoever can rescue and welcome him, call the neighbor Bertha at 72625842," indicated the protector in her post.

Marytee Ricci, another animal rights activist, indicated on Facebook that “they want to make the dog in Marianao disappear to clean the house, they have already managed to get him out to eat.”

Reports of abandoned animals for various reasons are becoming increasingly common.

Recently, a Cuban woman urgently requested help for a puppy in Havana that was left abandoned after its owners sold the house.

Gilda Arencibia shared on her Facebook wall the photo of the animal, which was abandoned in a house that was sold, and the new owners do not want it.

In June, a little dog that was abandoned by its owners before they emigrated spent the day standing at the door of what was once his home in Havana.

The organization Cubanos en Defensa de los Animales (CEDA) called on Cubans to consider the responsibility of having a pet, "sentient beings" that suffer greatly when abandoned.
