At least 36 people died from Russian missile attacks on several Ukrainian cities this Monday. Among the bombed sites is a children's oncological hospital located in the capital, Kiev.
Various media outlets worldwide echoed this new genocide by the government of Vladimir Putin against the Ukrainian people, considered one of the most brutal in months.
The Russian missiles hit Ohmatdyt Children's Hospital, one of the main pediatric healthcare centers in the nation. Children, their families, and medical staff had to evacuate to other medical facilities, as described by France 24.
"It is one of the most important not only in Ukraine, but also in Europe, that has saved and restored the health of thousands of children," said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
"It was terrifying. I couldn't breathe, I was trying to cover my baby. I was trying to cover him with his blanket so he could breathe," detailed Svitlana Kravchenko, a survivor of the attack.
Zelenski testified that 40 missiles of different types were launched by the Russians against different cities.
On the social network X, the president stated that there were fatalities and damage to infrastructure, commercial buildings, and residences.
Likewise, he stated that Russia cannot claim ignorance of the locations where its missiles fall, so it must "fully be held accountable for all its crimes: against people, against children, against humanity in general."
Fragments of a missile hit another medical center in the capital, killing four people, emergency services reported two hours after the attack on the children's hospital.
The attacks on Monday in Ukraine happen a day before the NATO leaders meet in Washington for their annual summit, where they are expected to announce new measures to help the country in conflict.
"I am impressed by the images of the attacks in Kiev, which also affected a children's hospital. War crimes that must be condemned by the entire international community (...) The Government (Italian) will continue to defend the sovereignty of Ukraine and its people," stated the Italian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Antonio Tajani, on Platform X.
The British Prime Minister, Keir Starmer, condemned the attack on innocent children as "the most depraved of actions."
