Fidel Castro's son announces temporary withdrawal from social media for "digital cleaning".

Alexis Castro Soto del Valle, one of the five children of Fidel Castro Ruz with Dalia Soto del Valle, said he will temporarily stay away from social media because he wants to go through a period of "digital cleansing".

In a post on the social network X, Alexis announced his "temporary farewell" just in the summer months, when the Castro family usually vacations in the best tourist destinations in Cuba and around the world.

"In this digital age, where the human brain is forced to process an increasing amount of information every day, much of it contradictory due to political polarization, crises, and wars, more and more Alternative Medicine specialists recommend disconnecting every 3 months," he commented.

He also said that this stage can be classified as a "digital cleanse," a period in which "body, mind, and spirit are renewed and revitalized, allowing for a return with more clarity and energy."

He stated that during that stage, "domestic and work obligations are never abandoned", although what he plans is to "intensify the practice of meditation, Tibetan rituals, yoga, intermittent fasting, readings that nurture, and moderate exercise".

Interestingly, in his message he warns that there are "some people," which implies that he does not necessarily have to do it himself, that during that break "choose to do community service instead of sports, such as helping with the cleaning of green areas and painting a school, or working in a neighborhood organoponico."

"I will complete reading some books that I have left halfway through. Don't worry, I will come back and do so with more enthusiasm, posting thematic threads to continue promoting a PLURAL and RESPECTFUL debate of ideas," he expressed upon closing his message.

Alexis Castro Soto del Valle is not a visible figure in the media. He has also not stood out for holding political positions. Cubans know him as "the engineer son" and he is very active on the social network X.

At the end of 2023, he drew attention from the press when he criticized the Ministry of Agriculture, insisting that the state agency must be accountable for the food shortages in Cuba. More than a year has passed and the shortage on the island is not only worse, but the products are also becoming increasingly expensive.
