Costa Rican authorities found a severely decomposed body inside a house located in the Las Américas neighborhood of Poás this Friday.
According to initial reports, the deceased is a Cuban citizen who had been residing in the area for a long time, as reported by the media outlet "Noticias Puriscal MG" on Facebook.
The discovery was made by locals, who alerted the police after perceiving a strong odor coming from the house, the media explained.
Upon arriving at the scene, the agents confirmed the presence of the body and proceeded to cordon off the area to carry out the relevant investigations.
Authorities have not yet revealed the identity of the deceased or the possible causes of his death.
However, it is expected that in the following days the corresponding forensic examinations will be carried out to determine the cause of death and the identity of the man.
The Poás community is in shock over the incident, as the Cuban was a well-known and appreciated person among his neighbors.
