A Cuban resident in Spain has caused a stir on TikTok after sharing a video where he recounts an experience he had during the match between Spain and France. In the video, the young man explains that he received a comment for celebrating the victory of the red team despite not being Spanish.
"I want to share something with you that happened to me yesterday. It was the game between Spain and France, and I was super happy when Spain won, I even grabbed a flag. And someone says to me, 'why do you get like that if you're not Spanish?'" starts telling @full_javy89 in a TikTok video.
I stayed looking, saying, "And what does that have to do with anything?" What does it matter if it's not Spanish to feel whatever for whichever team from whatever nationality? When I lived in Cuba, I rooted for the Spanish team during the Eurocup or World Cup.
"What does it matter that I am from Cuba to support Spain? Despite the fact that I have been living here for 8 years. In my country, in my family, my neighbors, we feel for Spain. I remember it was crazy when Spain won the World Cup," he stated in his message, affirming that in Cuba, Spain has a large following supporting them.
The video has sparked a huge avalanche of supportive comments from Spaniards and Cubans, who highlighted that the love for soccer transcends borders and nationalities.
"I'm happy that you are carrying that flag and celebrating Spain's victory, as for the comment that person made to you, it's ridiculous, ignorance", "You are free to support the team you want, pay no attention", "Of course, Spain is your second home. Long live Cuba!" or "People talk without having an idea... my brother-in-law is Cuban and feels like you", are some of the messages that were sent to @full_javy89.
