The President of the United States, Joe Biden, announced this Sunday that an independent investigation will be conducted to determine what happened during the attack this Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania, against Donald Trump.
Biden offered brief comments at the White House and reported that he requested a "thorough and swift" investigation, and asked the country "not to make assumptions" about the motives or political affiliation of the assailant, stated the news agency AP.
The President of the United States also ordered the Secret Service to review "all security measures surrounding the Republican National Convention, which begins on Monday in Milwaukee," the note pointed out.
In his statement, Biden detailed that he and First Lady Jill Biden were praying for the family of the deceased person who was attending the campaign event.
"He was a father. He was protecting his family from the bullets. May God take care of him," he noted.
He added that he had a "short but good conversation" with Trump on Saturday night, and that he sincerely was grateful that the former president "is well and recovering."
Biden, who is running for reelection for the Democratic Party in the upcoming November elections, referred to the shooting in which former President and his opponent in this electoral race, Donald Trump, was injured.
Through a statement published by the White House, Biden said he was aware of what happened this afternoon at a rally in Pennsylvania.
"I am glad to know that he is safe and well. I am praying for him and his family, and for all those who were at the rally, as we wait for more information," the current American president said.
"Everyone must condemn" the violent scenes in Pennsylvania, said Biden to rebuke what happened this Saturday afternoon.
"I have tried to communicate with Donald. He is with his doctors," the president mentioned in his brief intervention.
The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) identified the shooter who attempted to assassinate Donald Trump during a rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon.
The FBI has identified Thomas Matthew Crooks, 20, of Bethel Park, Pennsylvania, as the individual involved in the assassination attempt of former President Donald Trump on July 13 in Butler, Pennsylvania," the agency said in a statement.
