The government of Santiago de Cuba seems to be unaware of the proverb "a warned war doesn't kill a soldier," since forgetfulness has erased what happened at the Finca de los Monos in Havana. The same mistake could be repeated in the eastern province with the organization of parties in a coastal area that does not have a certified bathing area.
The alert was shared on Facebook by Aris Arias Batalla, Provincial Operations and Relief Manager, Aquatic Safety in Santiago de Cuba, who shared the promotion of a party in the coastal area of Aguadores, warning that "it is not a beach, it is not certified as a public bathing area."
However, traditionally the people from Santiago have used this area as a bathing area, something known both by the lifeguard who issued the alert and by the local government. There are even several dining facilities in the vicinity.
Arias explained that "this is a coastal area with great risks and vulnerabilities. After the coral reef bank, its marine depths are present, as well as strong currents. Let's remember that it is open sea, and a few meters from there, liquid waste from the San Juan River is discharged, communities and state entities with storm drains to the course of this river or ditch. All of them flowing into Aguadores."
Additionally, he pointed out that the seabed is bordered by a natural area called a cliff, which leads to deep waters, "for those reasons and many more, it does not qualify as a beach," emphasized the lifeguard.
After the events that occurred at the Los Monos Farm in Havana, the regime argued that they were not aware of this activity, much less authorized it.
However, this was debunked, as one of the organizers even appeared on national television to talk about the event, stating that it was known to the local government.
Now in Santiago de Cuba, "tropical parties" are being organized in a place that is not certified as a bathing area, and once again the regime demonstrates its inaction.
The incidents involving deaths in coastal areas are not isolated events. Last May, three young people lost their lives due to drowning in Santiago de Cuba.
The first incident occurred at Sardinero Beach, which is also not officially certified as a bathing area, and two young people lost their lives in the incident.
The second unfortunate event was reported at La Estrella Beach, a small stretch of coast near El Morro. A young man lost his life in the incident.
