Cuban grandmother teaches how to make corn flour: "A half-decent meal is a luxury."

A video shared on social media shows a woman who is a fan of corn flour, a dish that was traditionally considered "cheap", and today is almost a luxury.

A Cuban grandmother showed a traditional way of making corn flour, and although she also shared possible pairings that can be achieved with this dish, preparing this recipe has become a luxury nowadays.

A user @DiazVismar38292 shared a video on the social network X, formerly Twitter, where the lady explains that you should "stir occasionally because otherwise it gets sticky".

The grandmother showed how to prepare the tasty dish, as well as several ways to make it, including with milk, pork meat, beans, and stuffed with minced chicken, products that are out of reach for many Cubans at this time.

Cuban grandmother showing how to cook a little flour in the midst of so much scarcity and hardships, many do not know what it is like to eat a reasonably decent meal," indicated user @DiazVismar38292 on X.

"Socialism is the representation of hunger on earth," the profile pointed out, because currently, at least in the eastern part of the island, making corn flour is a luxury.

In Santiago de Cuba, for example, pork meat, for example, costs around 700 pesos per pound, cornmeal is priced at 130 pesos per pound, and chicken hash, which is another commonly made dish, has an approximate price of 350 pesos per pound. A pound of beans is around 380 pesos.

Recently, a Cuban woman showed on social media how she spent around 5,000 pesos in just a few minutes on a few food products, which is equivalent to a professional's salary.

Anita Mateu (@anita.mateu) showed on TikTok the evidence of inflation in Cuba, with a message that does not allow for many more explanations: "The sad reality of my country."
