"Who remembers this place?": Cuban from Miami evokes nostalgia with her visit to the Bacunayagua Viewpoint

"I remember that about 20 years ago, it was livelier and they sold more than just a piña colada."

A Cuban who lives in Miami and recently visited the island after 12 years without going back shared a video of her stop at the viewpoint of the Bacunayagua Bridge.

"Who remembers this place in Cuba? It was very empty, by the way. I remember that about 20 years ago it was livelier and they sold more than just a piña colada," commented TikTok user @duni_martin about the video, expressing her surprise at finding the place almost deserted, something that contrasts with her memories of a site full of life and activity.

The post has accumulated tens of thousands of views and reactions, along with a flood of nostalgic and sad comments about the current situation of the place.

Many users shared their own memories and feelings, with special references to one of the aspects that made the stop at that iconic place in Cuba even more special: “The piña coladas there were very good”; “The best piña coladas in all of Cuba are had in Bacunayagua”; “Every time I went, it was packed with tourists, the best piña coladas in Cuba are made there”; “The best piña coladas, and with that beautiful view”; “The piña coladas from the Bacunayagua Bridge were famous”; “The best piña coladas on the island”; “Famous for its piña coladas,” many agreed.

Others, on the other hand, expressed nostalgia and pain: "It hurts to be so far away"; "So much nostalgia"; "It was beautiful, I am from there"; "Brings nostalgia and childhood memories"; "And without meaning to, you revived a lovely stage of my life; I lived in a town nearby"; "I never knew that bridge, I hope God allows me to visit my beautiful country one day"; "Cuba is so empty. Only God knows how much it hurts"; "My mother, that place was always bursting with people"; "What nostalgia, I lived for 26 years near that place, the house in front is my grandmother's house"; "The Mirador del Puente Bacunayagua in my beloved Matanzas"; "Cuba hurts..."; "It was a place full of life and joy, now only sadness remains"; "How many beautiful memories I have of that place"; "It was always crowded, if Cuba is empty and alone"; "What sadness to see how everything has changed," others commented in that regard.
