The motorcyclist who died in the accident that occurred on Sunday near the Plaza de la Revolución Antonio Maceo, in Santiago de Cuba, was identified as Fernando García Cabrera.
The independent journalist Yosmany Mayeta Labrada made this known on his Facebook profile, where he mentioned that the man died of a cardiac arrest at the Saturnino Lora Provincial Hospital.
García Cabrera sustained serious injuries after the accident, lying on the road. The man was taken to the emergency room of the mentioned health unit, but he died early Monday morning.
Images released show a helmet next to the motorcycle and other belongings of the victim scattered on the ground.
The body of the deceased will be laid to rest at the funeral home in Santiago de Cuba, adds the information.
Regarding the driver of the other vehicle involved in the accident, he added that he is "a Cuban-American and is being held in a police unit in the city, under investigation."
In the initial information provided about the accident, Mayeta Labrada indicated that the deceased was the father of three children.
So far, the alleged cause of the incident has not been revealed.
