A blackout that occurred on Sunday evening in the 110,000 V transmission lines supplying the pumping field of the Cuenca Sur water supply destroyed the conductor and left half of Havana without water.

The company Aguas de La Habana explained that the lack of electricity caused a total interruption of pumping suddenly, which in turn caused several water hammer effects in the main pipeline of that source, leading it to collapse in three places.

As a result, since 7:25 PM, the pumping from that supply source has been interrupted, and the water service is affected in the following areas and neighborhoods:

In the municipalities of Centro Habana and Habana Vieja; in the Plaza municipality starting at 3:00 am, except for the area of the Hospitals of Loma del Príncipe, and in the Cerro municipality, in the neighborhoods of Casino, Santa Catalina, Palatino, Las Cañas, Martí, and Cepero Bonilla.

In the municipality of 10 de octubre, the service will be affected in the Santos Suárez neighborhood and part of Sevillano, and in the municipality of Boyeros in the neighborhoods of Embill, Ciudad de la Construcción, Rio Cristal, and part of AltaHabana.
