A Cuban who has been in the United States for just five months competed on Tuesday in America's Got Talent with a high-risk performance that impressed both the audience and the judges.
Alejandro Licea Pellon, 25 years old and originally from Havana, delivered a challenging performance balancing on cylinders that had all the attendees of the competition on their feet.
For just under three minutes, the young tightrope walker demonstrated absolute mastery of his technique, earning all four "YES" votes from the judges, securing his place in the next phase of the competition.
Incredible, spectacular, talented, dangerous, and terrifying were some of the terms used by experts to describe their performance on stage.
Alejandro has experience in these fields, as he previously participated in the program Got Talent Spain, where he made a pleasant impression.
He is the nephew of the crime reporter Niover Licea, who has gained notoriety as a reporter of violent incidents that have occurred in Cuba.
The young man arrived in the United States in February via Raleigh-Durham International Airport in North Carolina, along with other family members through the reunification process.
According to Niover, it was an agonizing process, as he filed the claim for his brother in 2013 or 2014. They had an appointment at the Havana embassy for July 2017, but the episode of the sonic attacks frozen the reunification.
In October 2023, they converted the I-131 process to I-134A, and his brother's children entered the claim, including Alejandro.
