Mother pleads for her daughter to receive treatment outside of Cuba: "Doctors say our country does not have enough resources."

The girl had almost her entire small intestine removed, leaving her with only six centimeters, and being too short, she cannot tolerate any food.

A Cuban mother is desperate about the health situation of her daughter, who is only four years old, and is pleading for help to have her treated outside the country.

Leidanis Benítez, from Sancti Spíritus, explained that the little girl underwent surgery for an obstruction in the small intestine, which was almost completely removed. They left only six centimeters, and being too short, she cannot tolerate any food.

"It has been a long process; we have spent 21 days at the José Martí Pérez Pediatric Hospital in the province of Santi Spíritus," she detailed on the Facebook wall of the group "humanitarian aid."

"The doctors tell us that unfortunately our country does not have the sufficient resources. I ask, please, for humanitarian aid so that my girl can be transferred to a country where there are resources to save her," she specified.
