"My first dream was to reach this event, and I have already achieved it. Now I am in search of that gold medal for which we have worked so hard," Claro said minutes after his victory.

From the beginning of the fight, the Cuban showed superiority with impeccable distance management, precise entries and exits, and accurate punches. His work with the leading hand was crucial to maintaining control of the match from the first round.

The young boxer looked confident and calm. He met the expectations of his trainers and achieved a final verdict of 5-0 in his favor at the North Paris Arena.

This result propelled him into a bronze medal match scheduled for Friday against the Frenchman Billal Bennama, who eliminated the continental champion from Santiago 2023, the American Jahmal Harvey.

Claro and Bennama have fought several times, something that can be an advantage for both boxers, so neither can let their guard down.

"We know each other well, because we have shared training sessions both in Cuba and in France, and I felt very good during the sparring sessions we recently had," commented Claro, who had already defeated Bennama in a sporting match in Varadero.

The Cuban team will continue its participation in the Olympic Games with another important match. Two-time champion Arlen López will face the Turkish fighter Kaan Aykutsun in the evening bout of the day, aiming to maintain the streak of successes for Cuba in these Olympics.
