Cuban singer Yotuel Romero sent a message to the Venezuelans fighting in the streets of their country for recognition of the opposition's victory in last Sunday’s elections.
"Cuba is with you," the artist wrote on his Instagram page.
He also posted a video featuring his song "Patria y vida" in the background, showcasing the epic moments led by the Venezuelan people, outraged by the election theft in recent hours.
It particularly captures the moment when angry youths destroy the statue of dictator Hugo Chávez and a billboard featuring the face of Nicolás Maduro.
The political climate in Venezuela has become more tense following Nicolás Maduro's declaration as the winner of the presidential elections, a decision vehemently rejected by the opposition.
On July 29, the National Electoral Council, a Chavista authority, announced Maduro's re-election, a result that immediately triggered protests and backlash from the opposition and a significant portion of the population.
Meanwhile, opposition leader María Corina Machado spoke at a press conference and stated that the true winner was Edmundo González: “We have evidence of the truth.”
The opposition's tally shows that Nicolás Maduro received 2,759,256 votes, while González garnered 6,275,182 votes, also winning in all the states of the South American nation.
