Despite the government's promises to minimize disruptions to the electrical service during the hottest months of the year, blackouts continue without pause this summer in Cuba.

The situation of the National Electric System (SEN) remains critical, with multiple units out of service and insufficient generation capacity to meet the demand.

An informative note about the situation of the National Electroenergetic System (SEN) for this August 3 indicates that a 324 MW impact is expected during peak hours.

Yesterday, the electricity service was also affected by a generation capacity deficit until 11:23 PM. The maximum impact of the day was recorded at 8:40 PM, coinciding with peak hours, reaching 480 MW.

These issues indicate that the Electric Union (UNE) and the Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM) continue to face significant challenges in ensuring a stable electricity supply on the island, where prolonged blackouts generate great public discontent.

As the high summer temperatures increase the demand for electricity, the lack of generation capacity and fuel limitations worsen the situation, leaving Cubans in a daily struggle against blackouts.
