The Cuban Janet Oliva, mother of a five-year-old girl who has leukemia, shaved her head in solidarity with her daughter and is asking for help so that the little girl can receive treatment at Nicklaus Children's Hospital in Miami.

Oliva posted a photo on her social media in which she poses with a shaved head alongside her daughter, Valentina Méndez Oliva, showing her unconditional love and support for the battle she is fighting against acute lymphoblastic leukemia, an illness she has suffered from since she was two years old.

In the text, he reiterated the request he made in early July on social media, when he sought help to obtain a humanitarian visa that would allow him to care for the minor at the prestigious medical center in Florida, after she had received treatment at the Hematology Institute in Havana.

The patient has been treated at the Cuban hospital since she was diagnosed with the disease in November 2021. "In March of this year, she completed her full treatment, but when they performed the bone marrow test to see if she was cured, the results showed that she had more malignant cells, meaning the marrow was infiltrated, and she started relapse treatment again on June 10, which is stronger than the previous treatments," explained the mother.

"At the Hematology Institute in Cuba, the doctors are excellent and despite everything, the care and dedication is good, but there are not enough resources for such a strong treatment, which are these schemes, that's why I am trying to apply for humanitarian visa," Oliva emphasized.

According to the family's posts, Valentina and her mom are still hospitalized in Havana while they wait for the humanitarian visa that has already been processed, in order to take care of the little girl at Nicklaus in Florida.

The Miami health center has already sent them the acceptance letter to hospitalize the girl and provide her with "a high-risk chemotherapy treatment, which is not available at the hospital where she is currently being treated," said her aunt, Olga Oliva, who shared a GoFundMe account to raise funds to enable their travel.

"This little girl and her mother do not have the resources to support their stay during the treatment at the hospital, which, according to the characteristics and severity of her illness, will be a long treatment and a very difficult path for this little warrior and her unconditional mother," she claimed.

Through a family friend residing in Florida, an account was created on the GoFundMe platform to raise funds to help cover the travel expenses for both to the United States and the patient's treatment. The set goal is $30,000, and so far, $1,250 has been raised.

The family of little Valentina has placed all their hopes in the generosity of others to make her treatment and recovery possible as soon as possible.

"My warrior princess, with you until the end of the world," emphasized her mother, who does not give up on doing everything in her power to save her daughter's life.
