Environmental activists vandalize Messi's house in Ibiza.

The Argentine star has not publicly spoken about this incident.

The facade of Lionel Messi's mansion in Ibiza was vandalized this Tuesday by environmental activists from Futuro Vegetal to denounce the "responsibility of the rich" in the climate crisis.

In a post on this group's Instagram profile, they shared a photograph showing a banner on the facade of the house with a message proposing to help the planet, eat a rich person, and abolish the Police.

"They teach us that the powerful are untouchable. It is true that policies are drafted and interpreted to serve those who have the most, directly undermining the rights of the rest of the population. But they are only 1%," they denounce in an Instagram post.

According to this group, Messi's mansion is an "illegal" construction that the footballer purchased for the "exorbitant" amount of 11 million euros.

"While the far-right blames the crisis on migrants and demonstrates extreme violence against them, those of us who fight for a better world are clear that the problem is social inequality. Let's tackle the issues at their roots," they wrote.

The Efe agency reports statements from the spokesperson of Futuro Vegetal, Bilbo Bassaterra, who said that “the law does not work the same for everyone” since this week almost 200 workers have been evicted in Ibiza, while the PP “in partnership with Vox plans the legalization of illegal constructions in exchange for payment.”

Another target of his criticisms was the police, whom he considers a "repressive tool" to maintain "a status quo where the dominant classes feel immune," as well as the promotion by the Balearic Government of tourism as the "solution to all the problems of the islands."

Regarding Messi, although the star footballer has not publicly commented on this fact, the president of Argentina, Javier Milei, did so, labeling the protagonists as "communists."

"I stand in solidarity with the Messi family for this cowardly and delusional incident and I request the government of Pedro Sánchez to guarantee the safety of Argentine citizens living in the Kingdom of Spain," stated the head of Casa Rosada from his account on X (formerly Twitter).
