The Lee County Sheriff's Office in Florida arrested three Cubans on Monday who were robbing an empty house in the Lehigh Acres community.
In the residence located on the 600 block of Columbus Boulevard, the three individuals were found after they broke into the home and triggered the alarm, NBC2 reported.
Yanet Valdes, Osmel Ortiz, and Alberto Quiñones-Pérez were arrested in the back of the property with a box of pillows, a shower curtain, rugs, and bottles of water.
The officers believe that the Cubans entered the residence through the back door, using a metal pipe.
Inside a car parked near the house, a pipe was later found by the agents.
The homeowners were on the east coast of Florida when they received notification of a possible break-in, and they returned to Lehigh Acres the next day to file a report, NBC2 reported.
Last Monday, the Cuban Diosvany Jiménez was arrested as a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred in Hialeah on the afternoon of July 30.
Local 10 reported this Tuesday that, according to the arrest report, the victim parked her car in front of her house when she was approached by two armed men.
In June, another Cuban was arrested in southwest Miami-Dade hours after the theft of a trailer containing items valued at $100,000.
According to the police report -cited by local media- the robbery took place in a trailer that contained products such as tobacco, alcoholic beverages, sunglasses, and clothing.
A Cuban in the United States was sentenced to 50 years in prison for leading a fuel theft ring in nine counties in Texas.
Duniesky González, 37 years old and a resident of Dallas, is accused of participating in a scheme designed for the mass theft of diesel fuel at gas stations.
