El Chacal will premiere a documentary in honor of his grandfather: "Looking a little closer at the great father he was."

"My Namesake Ramón" will be the title of the documentary, the same as the song he dedicated to him a few years ago.

The popular Cuban singer El Chacal has excited his followers on Instagram by announcing a documentary titled "My Namesake Ramón," dedicated to the memory of his grandfather, who passed away in August 2023 in Miami.

"Tribute to dad, August 11, looking a little closer at the great father he was. Almost a year after his passing, the whole family misses you, but we also celebrate the great father you were. 'My namesake Ramón,'" the artist expressed in his post shared on Instagram, where he announced that it would premiere on his YouTube channel.

The news has generated a wave of supportive and emotional reactions from her followers: "What a beautiful tribute"; "Your grandfather would be very proud of you"; "Thank you for sharing this piece of your life with us"; "Grandparents are the best"; "I'm crying, what a touching story"; "Congratulations on this project, it will surely be a success"; "Your grandfather guides you from heaven"; "What bravery from your grandfather and from you for telling this story"; "Family is always the most important"; "This documentary will be a treasure for many"; "What an example of love and sacrifice"; "Thank you for this much-needed tribute," are just a few of the more than 1,400 messages they have left her.

El Chacal's grandfather passed away in August 2023 in Miami, just a few months after arriving in the city - in February of the same year - thanks to humanitarian parole.

After the death of his grandfather, El Chacal publicly thanked those who offered support and condolences: “Good morning, I want to take the opportunity to thank all the colleagues, friends, close ones, and people who have taken a minute of their time to send me their condolences. On behalf of my family and personally, thank you very much.”

In February, during an interview with Destino Tolk, El Chacal recalled his grandfather with emotion to the point of tears: “That was something that still hasn't been completely overcome. I believe that it will never be completely overcome; 'papi' was and is the driving force behind all of this. Just to show how it is, my grandfather didn't want to come at his age and sick with cancer, he didn't want to come. But he knew that if he didn't come... my family wouldn't come. He volunteered because he knew this was the opportunity for my whole family to leave Cuba. He was aware, and my family knows, that if he hadn't come... they wouldn't have let him.” He recounted on that occasion.

The documentary "Mi tocayo Ramón," which is about to be released, takes its title from a song that El Chacal wrote years ago in honor of his grandfather.
