A young Cuban living in Madrid, @elixir_karen on TikTok, posted a video in which she humorously highlighted the ability of many Cubans to adapt, 'inflate,' or brag about having more skills to do something than they actually do.
In her post titled "Cubans and Their Things," the content creator shared how Cubans are or become experts in all kinds of things.
"It makes me laugh because I watch videos of Cubans and we are some damn survivors," he commented at the beginning of his video.
"If we lose weight, we are already nutritional coaches and want to sell plans and want to sell I don’t know how many things on social media. If we exercise, and in three months we see progress, we are already personal trainers," said the young woman in her relaxed reflection, where she let loose her humor while detailing more everyday situations.
"If we cook three dishes, we are chefs; we already sell a recipe guide. If we watch three makeup videos, we are already professional makeup artists," he said. "That's not to mention that every time we go to a job, we have maximum experience. If it's as a waiter, oh, I was a waiter a lot in Cuba, wow, what a dining room manager," he added.
The video concluded with a statement of pride: "That's why I am so proud of my Cubans. I am like that too, we are survivors, and what hurts the most is that we do it well, we puff up but we can puff up because in the end, we do it well."
Users on TikTok reacted to his words with supportive messages and laughter: "I am the one who picks the most spinach and plants the most cabbage here in this field"; "They taught us the lie and forced us to live in it"; "The Cuban knows how to do everything, and what he doesn't know, he invents, but he does it, and well done"; "That's how it is"; "I am a card dealer"; "I died with you, but we are like that"; "You are a warrior and brave woman"; "Inflated but we do it well"; "We invented it in the air and quickly, today I was thinking that and very resourceful"; "I confirm."
