Man turns a hole in the street into his personal pool in Holguín.

This behavior is becoming common in Cuba, where state-owned companies leave large holes for long periods without a solution in the middle of public roads.

In a surprising case of Cuban creativity, a man in Holguín decided to take advantage of a large hole left by the Water and Sewer Company to set up a swimming pool in the middle of the street.

The unusual incident, which quickly went viral, occurred at the intersection of 5th and 27th streets in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood of the city.

The hole was made by the aforementioned state company days ago and was left unrepaired. The gigantic pothole became a point of attraction when a man decided to take advantage of the water and use it as a "public pool," even bringing his bottle of rum to enjoy, as if he were in a hotel.

A user identified as Óscar Fuentes Labrada shared a video on social media where the improvised pool can be seen. He accompanied his post with a humorous text inviting neighbors to enjoy the peculiar recreational space.

"Through this medium, we are inviting you to come to our public pool, located at the corner of 5th Street and 27th Street in the Pueblo Nuevo neighborhood in the city of Holguín. Bring your drink of choice and enjoy one of your best days with us," wrote Fuentes Labrada.

This behavior, although creative, reflects a recurring problem in Cuba, where state-owned companies leave unfinished works for long periods, creating inconveniences and dangers on public roads.

In this case, however, the neighbors decided to see the positive side of the situation, turning what would be an obstacle into a community recreational space, but with risks to their health.

The video, which has generated both laughter and criticism, highlights the urgent need to resolve these types of situations that affect the daily lives of Cubans.

Meanwhile, the "public pool" in Holguín has become a symbol of local ingenuity and the "creative resistance" that Miguel Díaz-Canel calls for in the face of adversity.
