This week, the feminist platform YoSíTeCreo in Cuba raised the number of feminicides that have occurred this year to 32, after verifying the death of 16-year-old Yenifer Vargas Gómez, who was stabbed by her ex-boyfriend in Santiago de Cuba.

In a post, the platform indicated that the incident in this case "has particularly grave connotation as it was committed against a tenth-grade pre-university student," meaning a minor.

The underreporting conducted by the Gender Observatory Alas Tensas (OGAT) and the platform YoSíTeCreo in Cuba up to August 14 is 32 femicides, three attempted femicides, six cases needing access to police investigation, and two murders of men for gender-related reasons.
