Cuban in the USA sends a message to newcomers who keep complaining: "Everyone had a tough time when they arrived."

"If you are hitting rock bottom, you have only one option, and that is to go up; stop complaining."

The Cuban TikToker @i.am.ivey has sparked a debate on social media with his recent video where he criticized those who, after successfully emigrating to the United States, continue to complain about the difficulties they face in the country.

In his message, the content creator urged those who have a habit of complaining to stop doing so and, instead, focus on moving forward, as all immigrants have gone through complicated situations in the early days in their new place of residence.

"It's enough already... they threw a tantrum, caused a scene to be brought here, to the United States, and now that they are here, they're constantly complaining," Ivey expressed in his video, where he invited those who feel overwhelmed to talk to other immigrants who have been in the country longer, to understand that difficult experiences are not exclusive to anyone: "Everyone had a hard time when they arrived here. All the stories are the same, or worse than the one you're living."

The video has generated various reactions among its followers, many of whom shared their own stories and commented on the reality of life in the United States. “I arrived in 1968. There was no Medicaid, no food stamps, no trips back to see family. That was hard,” a user commented, reminiscing about the sacrifices of their arrival. Other users also joined in, agreeing that while current circumstances may be difficult, they are not comparable to those of previous years: “Now it's even easier. When I arrived here in NY, there wasn't even a Spanish-speaking station, there were no Hispanics to help you, it was very difficult,” another follower pointed out.

Some comments reflect frustration with those who, despite having more resources and support than before, continue to complain: “It’s just that when they are over there and want to come, you explain the process to them, they don’t believe you. They are the toughest, and when they face reality, they start crying a lot,” added a user, highlighting the harshness of life for those who do not adapt quickly.

This open discussion on TikTok shows how the experience of immigration is filled with challenges, but also opportunities to learn and grow. What do you think about these criticisms? Is the perception that some immigrants complain too much fair, or is it understandable given how difficult it is to adapt to a new country?
