The Cuban Dairon Blanco experienced a historic day in Major League Baseball (MLB) this Saturday, hitting two home runs and driving in seven runs in his team, the Kansas City Royals, rout over the Cincinnati Reds (13-1).
Blanco, an outfielder known for his speed on the bases, ended the night 5-for-3, with two runs scored and one strikeout, but the highlights were the home runs and the respectable number of men driven home to the "home plate."
The specialized journalist Francys Romero provided some insights on the social network Facebook. It turns out that his seven RBIs made him the fourteenth player of all time to reach that figure while batting ninth in the lineup.
He also came just one race away from tying the best record for those born in Cuba (8), held by José Canseco, Yulieski Gurriel, Adolis García, and Yasmani Grandal, the latter on a couple of occasions.
However, Blanco has low metrics in the current MLB season, as he is averaging only .259 with 25 hits in 69 games played, according to ESPN.
