A social media user posted an urgent and desperate announcement looking for a dog that can donate blood for her pet, in exchange for a monetary reward.
Irela Sánchez, a resident of Havana, sought help on Facebook to find a dog over two years old and weighing at least 25 kilograms, which could serve as a blood donor for her pet. In return, she offered an unspecified sum of money.
"I need help, I'll pay whatever it takes," the person emphasized, showing the urgency of the pet they wish to save.
Among those who commented on the post, one stands out: a user named Misuñas Srp, who claimed that in Santiago de las Vegas, there is a place that sells blood, supposedly for dogs.
In Cuba, animal protectors turn to social media daily to address issues affecting pets.
An animal rights advocate called for assistance this Saturday from anyone willing to help raise $800 to purchase a house in the countryside and establish a dog shelter in Güines, a municipality in the Mayabeque province of Cuba.
According to the message shared by Alberto Luiz Cruz on Facebook, the house they intend to purchase has ample space, water, and electricity, making it an ideal place to accommodate the animals.
The passionate animal rights advocate, Yenney Caballero, shared a touching testimony on social media about the mistreatment of a puppy in her neighborhood in San José de Las Lajas, Mayabeque. The puppy was forcefully driven away with a stick by a woman who identified herself as a Christian while trying to seek refuge under a porch.
The activist reported on Facebook that the small dog, apparently abandoned and exhausted from the heat and hunger, tried to take shelter in a house; however, the homeowner responded by hitting the puppy with a broom to drive it away.
