The cited source reported that the animal was sacrificed at that same location.

The official profile also reported that a citizen named Osvaldo Guzmán Leyva was arrested in the same municipality of Holguín.

Guzmán was found with beef from an animal he slaughtered on his own farm.

The economic situation has driven the informal meat market, causing some individuals to resort to illegal measures to meet their needs.

In June, the government of Guantánamo acknowledged that at least 23 thefts and sacrificial killings of large livestock occurred within a 24-hour period.

The incidents reflect a sustained increase in this type of crime in the region, adding to other thefts and social disorders that impact both the population and the local economy.

However, an even more alarming situation was reported in Las Tunas, with an average of up to 29 sacrifices reported in a single day.

In just the first four months of this year, there were 1,954 reported crimes related to the theft and slaughter of 3,480 cattle and equine animals.

The violations were detected in 341 units of the agricultural sector in the province, according to Periódico26.cu.
