Cuba is close to matching its record of players in a Major League Baseball season.

The record of 33 players was set in 2022.

With the debut of pitcher Víctor Mederos wearing the uniform of the Los Angeles Angels, Cuba has reached the number of 32 players in Major League Baseball this season, approaching the record of 32 set in 2022.

According to what was posted on Facebook by the journalist Francys Romero, the count represents the second largest ever in terms of participation in a campaign.

Mederos, 23 years old and born in Santa Clara, clocked 99.3 miles per hour with his fastball in his first appearance at the highest level.

A few days ago, Orlando Ribalta also made his debut with the Washington Nationals.

In 2022, the sequence was as follows: Michel Báez (who made number 29), Yusniel Díaz (30), José Barrero (31), Miguel Antonio Vargas (32), and Norge Luis Ruiz (33).
