They are asking for medication for a girl who survived a tragic fire in Havana.

The crisis of the public health system in Cuba, along with the pharmaceutical shortages and lack of supplies and medications, has resulted in the absence of the drugs needed for the minor with severe burns on her body.

After the tragic fire that broke out in mid-August at a house in the Luyanó neighborhood of Diez de Octubre, which claimed the lives of a one-year-old girl and three adults from the same family, a petition for help is circulating on social media to send medications to the hospital where the only survivor, a 14-year-old girl, is being treated.

"Urgent and humanitarian call. The case of the 14-year-old girl, the only survivor of four who died in a fire in Luyanó, needs everyone's help. The hospital is requesting these creams: petroleum jelly, nitrofurazone, triple antibiotic, zeolite talc, and aspirin. It is to prepare an ointment," indicated the message circulating on social media.

The internet user identified on Facebook as Edmundo Dantés Junior indicated that those interested in helping could contact the phones: 55145342, 55703041, and 52683347 (of the minor's father).

The crisis of the public health system in Cuba, combined with the pharmaceutical shortages and the lack of supplies and medicines, results in the unavailability of the drugs required for the girl with severe burns on her body.

The explosion of an electric motorcycle in the home was what triggered the fatal fire. The minor is hospitalized in serious condition at the Juan Manuel Márquez Pediatric Hospital.

According to neighbors speaking to the independent portal 14ymedio, in the house where the explosion occurred, located at number 203 on Marqués de la Torre street, there were two scooters. One of them was charging overnight and shortly after seven in the morning, it exploded.

Despite the neighbors trying to help rescue the residents of the area, the front door was locked with a gate and padlock, making it impossible to access. “They were trapped,” lamented one of those who came to assist.

The deceased were identified as a couple, consisting of Andrés Herrera and Yiliam Martínes, as well as their two daughters -Vanesa and Verónica-. There was also a cousin of the family who stayed at the house because he couldn't return to his own home. The three adults died at the scene.

The girls were indeed rescued alive by the firefighters, although the youngest -Verónica- passed away shortly after.
