Cuban in the USA erupts against opinions that newcomers are ungrateful.

"Why do I have to put up with you making my life miserable and using me for your own purposes my entire life just because I have to be grateful that you took me in this country?"

The Cuban TikToker Yily G Bring, based in Austin, Texas, posted a video on TikTok in which she directly addressed some of the criticisms often faced by newly arrived immigrants in the United States.

In her message, @yilygbring questioned the accusations of ingratitude that are often directed at those who have been welcomed by family or friends upon arriving in the country.

"Everyone is talking about the newcomer, about whether they are ungrateful, about whether they left... quickly let them leave my house," he said in his video where he acknowledged that many "misbehave" primarily due to preconceived notions or misconceptions they have when they arrive in the country.

Nevertheless, he wondered if that justifies treating them poorly or demanding a permanent gratitude: “Does the newcomer have the obligation to be a slave to the person who receives him?”

In his video, he also expressed his discontent with the way some expected newcomers to endure mistreatment just because they had received help: “Why do I have to endure you treating me like crap and using me for your own purposes my whole life just because I have to thank you for receiving me in this country?”

Given the sensitivity of the topic, which is a recurring debate on social media, the reactions to the video were numerous, many supporting Yily's point of view.

"As someone said... I thank you, but I owe you nothing"; "They take advantage of the collected as many say and no one thanks them no matter how well you behave"; "I have never in my life heard such truth. Someone who realizes it and says it, that the coin has two sides"; "It is pure truth, one must live a life of gratitude and not just Cubans"; "Behind my house came someone who since he arrived has been fixing his family's house, he is a tremendous hardworking person"; "You are absolutely right, that's exactly how it is," some agreed with his point of view.

"The only thing I see in this matter is not receiving anyone and that everyone manages as they can"; "Most newcomers behave poorly and bring bad habits"; "It's complicated, but the truth is that many don't know how to behave"; "In the end, those who host have to put up with everything and it's not fair"; "Many arrive with airs of grandeur and do not appreciate the help they are given"; "It's true that some take advantage, but there are newcomers who think they are superior and do not respect those who help them," others expressed.

What do you think about this point of view? Do you believe that the criticisms towards newcomers are fair or unjustified? Leave your comment and join the debate.
