At least three people were injured in a traffic accident that occurred on the night of this Tuesday after two motorcycles collided near the San Juan Bridge in the city of Santiago de Cuba.

So far, the causes of the incident are unknown, although "it is presumed that there were people under the influence of alcohol," wrote journalist Yosmany Mayeta on Facebook, who reported on the accident.

Two of the injured are being treated at Juan Bruno Zayas Clinical Surgical Hospital and the third at Saturnino Lora Provincial Hospital.

One of the injured has been identified as Yilian Carbonell Gallo, a young mother who was riding as a passenger on one of the crashed motorcycles.

"She has a pelvic fracture, a knee injury, lacerations on her fingers, bruises and contusions on her arms from the blows. She has already been immobilized and will be kept in the hospital under observation," a relative stated to the aforementioned source.

The driver of the motorcycle where Yilian was traveling has been identified as "Jose" and has fractures in his legs and arm, and he will undergo surgery, added the source, which stated that "he is stable and not at further risk."

So far, no information has emerged about the other driver, who is admitted to the Saturnino Lora.

"They didn't bring him here. We don't know much about him, just that he was getting unruly over there and that it seemed like he was pulling a gun because he said he was a police officer, but we are not sure about that," Mayeta said based on the testimony of his source.

As of the closing of this note, there are no other details about the accident, which adds to a long list of traffic incidents that in recent months have claimed the lives of many people across the country.
