Thanks to the reach of social media, a missing young Cuban was found this Wednesday in the Hermanos Mayo neighborhood in Las Tunas, with visible sunburns and in a state of disorientation.
User Nover Rene Vargas Espinosa posted on Facebook that on his way to work he encountered a barefoot young man who did not accept help despite walking with difficulty and without direction.
"I found this white man who is at least 30 years old, he says his name is Lázaro and that he is from the municipality of La Lisa (Havana). He is disoriented, sunburned on his neck and the soles of his feet, which makes it difficult for him to walk," he wrote.
"He did not allow me to help him, neither physically nor financially, as I offered him money to get to Las Tunas and he did not accept it. He did not want to provide me with information about his parents' names, relatives, or phone number," Vargas added.
The post received a quick response and several internet users recognized the young man and commented that his family was looking for him.
Nancy Pérez commented that it was indeed the missing young man and he was her neighbor, while Ely Tamayo stated that the family members were informed.
At the same time, Valentimemes Betanalonso confirmed that they had contacted the older brother and were going to retrieve him promptly.
Without a doubt, the impact of social media is notable in present-day Cuba, which is why the day before they turned to these platforms to find Osniel Sánchez, who has been missing for four days in Havana.
In the Facebook group "Comida a Domicilio En La Habana," the user Miguel Ángel requested support from anyone who has information and posted two phone numbers for any contact: 58359994 and 51183428.
Similarly, Yilena Cepa, an 18-year-old from the municipality of Songo La Maya, Santiago de Cuba, has also been missing since last Saturday.
The rescuer Aris Arias Batalla reported on Facebook that his family is worried about the whereabouts of the young woman and has made an urgent call to the community to assist in her search.
Mabel García Corrales continues to be missing since the first week of last July when she was last seen in the province of Ciego de Ávila, where she resides.
On Facebook, the feminist platform YoSíTeCreo in Cuba again raised the alarm about the disappearance of Marbeli, as she is known, who is 54 years old and is described by her loved ones as a woman with black hair with gray strands and black eyes.
The lady left her house early on June 30. She was wearing a sweater, black shorts, and was barefoot.
According to a family member who revealed this to the feminist platform Alas Tensas, the woman suffers from nerves. Like many Cubans with this illness, she is not taking any medication due to the existing shortages in the country, as her doctor had prescribed chlorpromazine.
The family filed the corresponding report with the police. Additionally, they requested that if anyone has information, they can call the number 55200690, write to the Messenger of JoseDay DayJose, or report to the authorities.
