They denounce poor hygienic conditions in the bathrooms of the Sagua la Grande hospital.

Images sent to this newsroom showed an alarming picture of lack of cleanliness and maintenance in the facilities, highlighting the serious health crisis that the hospital is experiencing, just like many others in the country.

A Cuban citizen reported the deplorable hygienic conditions at the Mártires del 9 de Abril hospital, located in Sagua la Grande, Villa Clara.

Images sent to the CiberCuba newsroom showed an alarming picture of a lack of cleanliness and maintenance in the facilities, highlighting the serious health crisis that the hospital center is experiencing.

Complaint sent toCiberCuba

"I need to report the poor hygiene situation at the Mártires del 9 de abril hospital in Sagua la Grande. Unfortunately, I have a relative there, and I would like to file the complaint with photos of the poor hygiene conditions, resources, and lack of staff in the virtually collapsed hospital," wrote the complainant, who preferred to remain anonymous.

The lack of resources and personnel, as well as the evident negligence in the hygiene of the common areas, are highlighted in the images sent, in which a bathroom in deplorable conditions can be observed, with a dirty toilet surrounded by garbage, as well as a sink that has clearly not received the proper cleaning and maintenance.

The accumulation of waste is also noticeable in the corners and transit areas, including numerous cigarette butts, which not only poses a risk to patients but also to medical staff.

This situation in Sagua la Grande is not an isolated case in the Cuban healthcare system. In Santiago de Cuba, citizens have also reported a lack of hygiene in the bathrooms of the Provincial Hospital Saturnino Lora.

The images accompanying these complaints show similar conditions, with clogged toilets and overflowing trash bins, amidst a context of shortages of medications and medical personnel.

These deficiencies not only affect the physical health of patients but also increase the risk of contracting new infections in an already weakened environment.

In Artemisa, another Cuban mother reported the unsanitary conditions at the Provincial Pediatric Hospital, where her son was hospitalized. The lack of medication and the deteriorated hospital infrastructure worsen the unsanitary conditions, increasing the risks for patients, especially children.

The mother emphasized that these conditions pose a constant danger to the patients, who are exposed to the risk of illness due to lack of cleanliness and maintenance.

On the other hand, in Pinar del Río, a young man with elephantiasis reported the "filth" in the provincial hospital. Without access to clean bathrooms or adequate medical care, the young man was forced to endure inhumane conditions while waiting to be transferred to Havana for treatment.

This case, like many others across the country, highlights the seriousness of the health crisis in Cuba and the urgency to take measures to improve the situation in hospitals.

The situation at the Mártires del 9 de Abril hospital is yet another reflection of the crisis affecting the Cuban health system across the country, where unsanitary conditions and a lack of resources have become the norm, putting the lives of patients and medical staff at risk.
