Cuban Yulieski Gurriel experienced an emotional welcome on Sunday upon his return to Major League Baseball with the Kansas City Royals, right at the stadium of the Houston Astros, the team that opened the doors for him to the best baseball competition in the world.

This tribute, which received a great reception on social media, highlighted the deep connection between Gurriel, the Astros, and their fans, with whom he enjoyed collective and individual successes between 2016 and 2022, when he left for the Miami Marlins.

The Astros took the opportunity to showcase a video of great moments from the islander, including the celebrations of the World Series won in the years 2017 and 2022.

The warm welcome from the audience and her former colleagues emphasized her impact and legacy in the organization, as well as moving the hundreds of thousands of people who experienced the moment at any latitude.

Finally, Gurriel, who was batting seventh in the lineup and serving as the designated hitter, went 3-for-1, with one run batted in and one strikeout, so his current batting average is .333.

After the game, “El Yuli” highlighted the importance of achieving the goal of being back in the Major Leagues, following his stay for most of the season with the Gwinnett in the Triple A category of the Atlanta Braves.

He also stated that he brings experience to the Royals, a team that is fighting to qualify for the postseason, according to the video published by Pelota Cubana on the social network Facebook.

With four decades of life and in the epilogue of his spectacular career, the baseball world highlights the longevity and discipline of what many consider the most complete Cuban player of the 21st century.
