Cuban humorist Karel Villanueva arrives in Miami after six months of traveling with his family.

El Kereketé will have its first performance in Miami next Saturday, September 7.

The Cuban humorist Karel Villanueva, better known as El Kereketé, arrived in the United States a few weeks ago with his family.

In a video shared on the social media platform Instagram, Villanueva summarized what were months of journey to finally cross the southern border of the United States.

"A video that is not easy to make. One minute of editing but a thousand tremors in the hand. An instant photo after photo but a thousand chilling memories. Tears, hunger, life risk, assaults, back and disappointment from many trusted, sleepless nights, fear of what tomorrow will bring. 5 months in a reel. But a lifetime to remember," wrote the humorist.

The clip shows a timeline from their departure from Cuba to the moment they were in different locations along the Central American route and Mexico that many Cubans take to escape the misery experienced on the island.

"It is difficult to defeat someone who does not give up," he noted and thanked his wife and children, as well as family and friends.

The Kereketé continued to signify the desire for freedom for the island. "Homeland and Life for our Cuban people," he concluded.

Despite having been in the United States for such a short time, she already announced, with great joy, her first performance in Miami.

Karel Villanueva was one of the winners of the amateur humor program Los amigos de Pepito, broadcast by Cuban Television in 2008. Mario Limonta and Aurora Basnuevo were the ones who nicknamed him El Kereketé, which remains his stage name to this day.
