A Cuban says that present-day Havana "looks like a rural village."

Cubans recognize that there is a significant deterioration of Havana and a loss of values after decades of crisis in the country.

A 65-year-old Cuban, a retired musician, has shared harsh criticisms about the current situation in Havana, stating that the city no longer resembles the capital he used to enjoy in his youth.

"Do you want me to tell you the truth? Havana doesn’t seem like Havana; it looks like a rural town, compared to when I was young and lived and enjoyed the city. This is not good. There is an underdevelopment, like that of the underworld," he expressed to the YouTube channel Vámonos con Juanka.

This Cuban, after his professional retirement, has been compelled to work as a bicycle taxi driver to survive. He not only lamented the economic crisis in the country, evident in the sociocultural life of Havana, but also criticized the loss of values.

"Consciousness, moral values, respect, and ethics have been lost. There is nothing left in this city," he pointed out with evident frustration. "What future does this country have?" he wondered. His reflection has received dozens of supportive messages on social media.

In the video, other interviewees agree on their love for the city, but they acknowledge that Havana has changed drastically and is no longer the same city they once knew, admired, and enjoyed.

The decades of crisis and political repression have affected Cuba and its capital beyond what is visible in the urban landscape, as it has also left the soul of the citizens in ruins.
