A young Cuban who has been sleeping on the streets in Miami for almost a week urgently requested help in the last few hours through actor Alexis Valdés and then through influencer Dairon Cano for the community to help him find a job.
“A young man approached me on the street, very emotionally affected, and asked me to help him convey this message. Please, if anyone has communication with the person he mentions, it would be a great help,” wrote Alexis Valdés on Instagram along with a video in which the Cuban was asking for help for Dairon Cano, a TikToker who has become popular for helping compatriots facing complicated situations in Miami.
“He has a lot of faith that this person is someone who is doing this type of work and has the means and connections to help him. If anyone else has an idea on how to help him, don’t hesitate to reach out to him. Good luck, compatriot,” the comedian added.
In the comments section of the post, many people tagged Dairon Cano, who ultimately went to the location where the young man, whose name has not been disclosed, was, nor is it known where Alexis initially found him.
In statements to the influencer, the young man explained that he arrived in the United States just a year ago through family reunification.
He says that five days ago he ended up on the street after he and his girlfriend broke up.
"I have a clean police record and everything, I can show it. I have no criminal record in this country; I obtained it for my residency. Simply and plainly, I am going through a tough time, perhaps due to bad decisions," he said, without giving further details about the circumstances surrounding the separation from his partner.
The young man -who said he was a Christian- specified that he has been on the street for five days during which he received occasional assistance from two pastors who gave him some money.
"I don't have a job, I don't have anywhere to stay. I have my papers in order and I only ask the Cuban community and all its supporters to help me find a job. I have a license, I have everything. I broke up with my girlfriend and I had nowhere to be, so I had to go to the street," he specified.
He indicated the contact phone number as 7862627963.
Dairon Cano bought him a pizza, got him in his car, and said he would take him to his house.
"You are not going to sleep on the street today. You are going to sleep at my house. Count on that. I am offering you my hand with all my heart. I don’t know you or anything, but I hope you are really going through this tough time and that it’s all real," the influencer pointed out.
"Focus, work, save up your money for your rent, and then you can move forward," concluded the tiktoker while driving the young man in his car.
Through tears, the Cuban expressed deep gratitude to both Dairon Cano and Alexis Valdés, from whom he said he received 40 dollars in addition to having his urgent help request shared on Valdés' Instagram profile.
In the comments section of Alexis Valdés' post, several people indicated that a WhatsApp group has been created to help the young man.
As of the publication of this note, there are no other details about the case, which is not the first of its kind in recent days.
Recently, the story of Gisel Humberto emerged, a 20-year-old Cuban who arrived in the U.S. just a month ago and ended up on the streets of Tampa after the person who was hosting him kicked him out.
Gisel Humberto impressed thousands of Cubans by recounting that he was evicted from the temporary housing he was in Tampa without any issues, simply on the grounds that the landlords didn't want anyone there. The young Cuban received help from Dairon Cano, Alain Paparazzi, and others, and at the moment he is already working in a jewelry store.
