A Cuban woman who left for Spain took her seven pets with her: six dogs and one cat.
Regla Doreste Reyes shared her story on the Facebook profile of the Animal Protection Society in Cuba to serve as an example and inspiration.
"To show that with sacrifice we can help our furry friends, and if we leave Cuba, not to abandon them on the street, nor to give them to anyone. They feel our absence, they suffer and become depressed," she affirmed.
Regla detailed that she made her trip with her pets, some traveled in the cabin and others in the hold.
"Many tell me that I'm crazy; no, I would be crazy if I had left them in God's care and not knowing how they would feel in my absence," said the woman.
The photos show that all the dogs are small: a Pekingese and the others look like Chihuahuas, and the cat is not large either. The journey for small animals is cheaper than if they are large.
She clarified that the procedures are not expensive. "It's just about keeping the dog's vaccinations up to date, sending the blood samples to know the viral load of the rabies vaccine to the country to which they are going to emigrate, and complying with the requirements at the border of Cuba," she detailed.
