An eighth-grade student from a school in the municipality of Palma Soriano, in Santiago de Cuba, was injured this Friday by another student with a scalpel in the head and on an arm, according to journalist Yosmany Mayeta, citing a neighbor of the family as a source.
The woman specified that the injured minor studies at the Luis Augusto Turcios Lima basic secondary school and that the father works in the Special Troops of the province.
The source reported that the child had a problem in the morning during Physical Education with the minor who later attacked him.
"At around twelve in the afternoon, when he was heading to school and had just left his grandfather's house, the other boy was waiting for him at the corner where he cut him with a scalpel on the head, behind the ear, and on the arm," added the neighbor, speaking under the condition of anonymity.
The woman added that the boy, who judging by his grade must be 13 or 14 years old, was taken to a health area, where his wounds were stitched, and even the school principal went to visit him there.
"At the moment, I don't have photos or information about the student who was attacked, but I am still looking for the precise details of this unfortunate assault," explained Mayeta, who emphasized that this is not the first violent incident reported in Santiago de Cuba since the school year began on September 2nd.
Mayeta says that last Sunday, when the students of the EIDE Capitán Orestes Acosta entered, another assault also took place, in which a student from the sports school received several stab wounds.
